Every teacher I have had, has left a special place in my heart. They have helped to guide who I am today. This school year I am entering my fifth year at Covenant Academy as a sophomore. Over the years, I have spotted something very sweet and kind about this school. I have witnessed this sweetness and kindness in the teachers and staff, the students and their families, the classrooms, and the hallways.
Covenant Academy is not only a school where students learn but also an opportunity for teachers, students, and their families to create strong and valuable friendships with each other. A classroom is where memories are created and smiles, and laughter are shared. When moments of difficulty pop up, everyone lends a hand. The teacher and students grow and learn together as the school year travels forward. Sadly, when the end of the school year approaches goodbyes are exchanged along with hugs and pictures with the teacher. For the teacher and even for the students, this time of year is very difficult.
Generosity defines our teachers at Covenant Academy. A teacher completes a classroom. Since coming to Covenant, I have been taught by amazing, incredible teachers. Each one has walked beside me. They have stood with me through every moment of triumph and struggle. Instead of losing hope or giving up on me they continued to encourage me. Because of their generosity, I have learned numerous things.
The teacher and students have formed strong friendships. At Covenant Academy, these friendships are not broken once a school year ends and rolls on to the next; they are strengthened. This past school year, our third and fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Estes, retired from teaching. She was my second grade teacher. Two years later, she became my fourth grade teacher and eventually taught my brother twice and my sister once. Even the years that Mrs. Estes was not my teacher, she was always there for me. She has attended several of my dance performances. Today, I continue to use some of the handouts she gave her students to aid in our writing. My family and I will always be grateful for all Mrs. Estes has done for us. She has blessed numerous families. If you are reading this Mrs. Estes, I would like to thank you for everything you have done for my family and me. And I also would like to say thank you to the other teachers who are reading this too.
Teachers in a way are like a personal coach. They are a friend, too. A couple of times I have asked them to pray with me for something specific. My teachers have also encouraged me in my passion for dance. They have honored me by coming to watch my dance performance or attending a fundraiser supporting my studio.
For one and half years, I have witnessed the job of a teacher behind the scenes. I am the daughter of the fifth and sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Denning. As a student, I understand teachers plan out assignments, grade schoolwork, and work hard to help their students succeed. But not until my mom became a teacher, did I appreciate how much our teachers undertake. Hours upon hours are spent planning and grading assignments. I cherish how caring and thoughtful our teachers are in teaching us. I would not be where I am today without my teachers.
