Creative and Engaging Music and Art
MUSIC
There is a powerful effect on brain development when quality musical instruction is provided to children. Children are known to process math, reading and much more at an accelerated rate when music is a regular part of education. It’s also a lot of fun!
Covenant Academy partners with Patel Conservatory, the educational arm of the Straz Performing Arts Center, to provide “the finest performing arts training” for our students.
CURRENTLY STUDENTS ARE ENJOYING THE FOLLOWING CLASSES
RHYTHM MAKERS
In this energetic and fun group setting, students explore Orff instruments, Boomwhackers, and drums by playing music from around the world. As they develop basic music competence, children will also develop the foundation for important life skills while improving language and math comprehension.
CHORUS
Pairing general music with performing skills, young children who love to sing participate in this performing ensemble to develop strong singing technique and musical expression. Students explore exciting repertoire chosen to develop choral and solo singing techniques.
MUSIC THEORY
Music theory offers students the opportunity to learn the important basics of music reading, terminology, and notation. Learning music theory can be linked to improved critical reasoning skills and makes for a well rounded musician.
VIOLIN or RECORDER
Students in specific grades are taught to play an instrument, learn to read music, understand rhythmic fundamentals, learn how to perform with other students, and are encouraged to use their talents to honor the Lord.
REFLECTING OUR CREATOR THROUGH ART
Students explore creating art and perfecting their technique, experimenting with a variety of mediums including pastels, acrylics, watercolors and more, in a fun and stimulating environment.
